On restart the CD DVD drive had returned. I resorted to system Restore to the last restore point (which was 26/7/13). I then uninstalled the device, on restart Windows found the device and attempted to install the driver but found it to be corrupt once again! On Monday (1st July) I went to carry out an upgrade from Vista to Win7 using an upgrade disk. I have just experienced something similar on our Aspire 7730ZG which has run faultlessly for the past few years.
